Fall 2008 Health & Wellness Center a 1st for Beaumont
Beaumont Hospitals broke ground today for a new health and wellness center on a seven-acre site on South Boulevard between John R and Dequindre roads in Rochester Hills.
The $20-million project, at approximately 98,000 square feet, will include a fitness center with a lap pool, track, gymnasium and exercise equipment; physical therapy; cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation; magnetic resonance imaging; integrative medicine, offering massage therapy and acupuncture; orthopedic physician offices; home medical equipment; juice bar and retail outlets.
"When Beaumont's first health and wellness center is completed in October 2009, area residents will have access to a medically supervised fitness center, along with other state-of-the-art services," says Eric Hunt, vice president of Operations for Beaumont's Ambulatory Services division. "The center has the resources and staff to assist most patients with post-surgery rehabilitation and continue with a customized fitness program once they've recovered. Memberships will also be available to the public."
The Beaumont Health & Wellness Center, Rochester Hills [1], is a collaboration among Beaumont; Landmark Healthcare Facilities; and Richard Easton, M.D, and Bradley Ahlgren, M.D., Beaumont orthopedic surgeons specializing in diseases of the spine.
"This facility will give people with back and neck pain a single point of access for the diagnosis and treatment for their often debilitating condition," says Dr. Easton.
The project was designed by Hobbs+Black Architects and LEO A DALY. The health center will be owned by Landmark Healthcare Facilities, Beaumont and Beaumont physician tenants.
